Social pedagogue:

provides socio-pedagogical support for orphans and children deprived of parental care, children with special educational needs, children from large and low-income families with the aim of preventing homelessness, neglect and cases of all forms of domestic violence against children;

· participates in the organization of free meals for students from low-income families and students from other privileged categories;

· participates in educational work on prevention of negative forms of behavior among minors (smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction, child crime, etc.), promotion of a healthy lifestyle, sexual education of young people;

· helps to identify creative inclinations, reveal the abilities of children and adolescents, promotes the participation of students in socially beneficial, volunteer activities;

· carries out educational work with parents or persons replacing them;

· is an intermediary between the school, family, state institutions for the protection of children's rights and the public; participates in the organization of their interaction in order to create conditions for the normal development of children and adolescents.

 

For parents:

A social pedagogue is a pedagogical worker whose main goal is to ensure the social and legal protection of schoolchildren and prevent the influence of negative social factors on the formation and development of a child's personality. At school, he is a public inspector for child protection.

 

For students:

In what cases should I contact a social worker?

- if there are problems in your family that constantly bother you, prevent you from studying normally and feeling happy;

- if someone forces you to do actions that contradict the norms of morality, oppress your dignity, and you do not know how to behave in such a situation;

- if you feel that you need the help of a doctor or a lawyer, but do not dare to turn to your parents;

- and just when it seems to you that everyone else has turned their back on you and no one will understand you anymore...

 

Areas of work of a social teacher at school:

-  psychological preparation for studying at school;

- adaptation of children to the conditions of stay in an educational institution;

- organization of work with "difficult" children;

- professional self-determination of high school students;

- organization of work with gifted children and children with creative abilities;

- promotion of psychological health of children and adolescents.

- prevention of suicidal behavior of children and adolescents, violent acts in the family and educational institution;

- organization of work with children of the privileged contingent;

- methodological work.

 

Types of work of a social pedagogue at school:

- diagnostic work;

- predictive work;

- consulting work;

- social-transformative work;

- preventive (educational) work;

- educational activity;

- organizational and methodical work;

- public relations.

 

The social pedagogue provides the following types of social services to students and their parents:

- helps in the adaptation of children when entering school, transitioning from one to another level of an educational institution;

- acts as an intermediary between the educational institution and the family, between parents and teachers;

- helps in overcoming the reasons, together with the school administration and class teachers, that lead to missed classes;

- warns of conflicts that may arise in the student body.

 

Together with the teaching staff of the educational institution, the social pedagogue:

- conducts consultations with the teacher and other school employees on various socio-pedagogical problems in order to contribute to the improvement of students' living and learning conditions;

- organizes cooperation with teachers and other specialists of the school  in developing an individual strategy and tactics for helping maladapted students;

- provides assistance in the evaluation and analysis of disciplinary violations of students;

- participates in parent meetings, parent meetings and meetings related to the socio-pedagogical life of the educational institution.
