From March 12, 2020Ukraine introduces quarantine for all educational institutions. The Government made the relevant decision today, March 11, 2020.

Detailed recommendations for heads of institutions and managers are available in letter of the Ministry of Education and Science No. 1/9-154 dated March 11, 2020.

The national quarantine, which was supposed to last until April 3 inclusive, has been extended for 21 days -until April 24 inclusive.The Government made the relevant decision today, March 25, 2020.

Thus, all educational institutions, regardless of the form of ownership and the field of management, must continue quarantine measures until the appropriate term.

The government has extended the nationwide quarantine in Ukraine - it will continueuntil May 22, 2020.This decision was made today, May 4, 2020, during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv.

"The Government's decision provides for the relaxation of some quarantine restrictions from May 11. Ukrainians will be able to go to parks and squares again, hair salons will open, and wholesale and retail trade in non-food products will be allowed. However, everything will remain the same for educational institutions - they conduct distance learning and prepare for the end of the academic year," explained the Acting Director. Minister of Education and Science Lubomyra Mandziy.

The academic year in schools across the country will end remotely. The training calendar will look like this:

• classes will continue until May 31;

• the academic year must be completed by July 1;

• by June 15, schools complete the registration of: certificates of completion of basic secondary education; certificates of achievements and report cards of educational achievements;

• throughout June, schools at pedagogical councils consider the issue of transferring students to the next grade.

Graduates of the 11th grades will receive a document on obtaining an education after completing the DPA in the form of an external examination. If students of grades 1-8, 10 do not plan to study at another educational institution, schools send copies of documents to students by e-mail, and original documents will be issued in September 2020-2021 academic year.  

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Culture reported that this year the state final certification for students of the 4th and 9th grades has been canceled.

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19 in the 2019/2020 academic year, the Ministry of Education and Culture recommends refraining from holding mass events, in particular, last bells and graduation parties.
